Black History Month – What to do

MENU

Music, film, workshops, heritage and more form the backbone of a varied month-long program of events and activities to mark Black History Month 2022.

Besides the lineup of announcements, there are a few other event programs to highlight.

The 14th Annual Somali Week Festival returns with the theme “2022: Traditional and Modern Art Forms”.

Discover Ethiopian cinema with Ethiopian Film Week at the Rich Mix.

Second Home offers a program through different artistic disciplines that advocates experimentation. It embraces the different subcultures within blackness. This includes an exclusive art exhibit gal-dem presents: In the Nook.

The New Black Film Collective (TNBFC) trains young black participants between the ages of 18 and 30 to become film programmers for Black History Month. This FREE course will begin in October and will include evening online sessions with trained professionals leading to future paid work opportunities at TNBFC. More details will be available soon. Please register your interest.
