Summary of Qualifications
Specialized experience:
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this advertisement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work performed in national service programs (eg, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (eg, professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build essential skills, knowledge and abilities and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly into paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel Management’s Group Coverage Qualification Standards, associated Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR), and Individual Qualification Standards covering white-collar occupations in Federal Competitive Service can be found here. To qualify, applicants must have one year of specialty experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-11) in the normal line of career progression within the organization. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves: (1) The application of relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and court decisions related to veterans benefit programs or services;
(2) Plan, organize, manage projects and prioritize work under time constraints and stressful situations;
(3) Securing benefits for veterans using FOIA, privacy law, etc.
(4) Write professional and technical information in a clear, logical and concise manner.
(5) Use of computer software applications to perform statistical analyzes of programs/issues and prepare reports and briefings.
